The research team collaborates with international experts in diverse fields. The project is funded with a Consolidator Grant for the duration of five years by the European Research Council (Grant agreement 725319, PI: Clemens Wöllner) and is hosted by the University of Hamburg. The research project focuses on experiences of stretched time in perception and performance, and the results shall contribute to a general theory of musical time. These phenomena become especially apparent during slow movements in music or dance. Previous models of time and consciousness attempted to explain the intricacies and differences of experiencing time in a psychological sense versus more "objective" physical descriptions of unfolding time. The ERC project SloMo investigates the influence of stretched time on perception and related actions of musicians, dancers, and audiences.
